Chicken Lettuce Wraps with a Hoisin Sauce

Ingredients
  

Chicken Filling
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 lb Ground Chicken
  • 1 Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 1 Can (8 oz) Water Chesnuts, Diced
  • 5 Green Onions, Sliced Thin
  • 1 Head of Roman or Butter Lettuce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Hoisin Sauce
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger
  • 1/2 Cup Hoisin Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Paste
  • 1 tsp White Pepper

Method
 

  1. Make the Hoisin Sauce and set aside. Separate your lettuce out to individual leaves. Wash and dry your lettuce.
  2. To a pan over medium heat add olive oil and chicken. Crumble your chicken up. Cook for 2 minutes then add in onion. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink, and your onions are soft. This will take about 5 minutes. Drain the excess fat.
  3. Add in water chestnuts and half of the green onions. Cook for a minute. Add in half of the hoisin sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, just until the sauce is thickened.
  4. Fill your lettuce with 1/4 cup of the chicken filling and top with extra sauce.
  5. Enjoy!
