Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

The Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry is a flavorful dish featuring tender beef slices, fresh broccoli, and savory sauce. The dish starts with a homemade sauce comprising soy sauce, beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Thinly sliced beef is marinated in a portion of the sauce, then cooked in batches until browned. Meanwhile, broccoli and onions are sautéed before being combined with cooked noodles and the remaining sauce. The cooked beef is added back to the pot, and everything is tossed together before serving, topped with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

Sauce and Marinade:

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 garlic cloves grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

Stir Fry:

  • 1 pound sirloin ribeye, or NY strip steak (fat removed and thinly sliced)
  • 2 –4 tbsp oil
  • 2 3 ounce packets of ramen noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli chopped small
  • 1 onion sliced
  • Green onions sliced (for toppings)
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients for the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, being cautious with salt.
  • Place the sliced steak in a large bowl and add half of the marinade. Massage the marinade into the beef and let it marinate for 20 minutes.
  • Bring a medium pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package instructions. Save the seasoning for another use.
  • In a large pot over medium-high heat, add 1 tbsp of oil and cook the beef in batches for 1-2 minutes per side. Remove cooked beef and continue until all beef is cooked.
  • Add another tablespoon of oil to the pot and sauté the onions and broccoli for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked noodles and the remaining sauce to the pot with the onions and broccoli. Toss and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and add the cooked steak along with any juices from the bowl. Toss everything together.
  • Serve topped with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
